Admissions

All pupils at Hope Wood Academy have a statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

Pupils are placed in the school by the Local Authority following a review of all documentation.

The current planned placement for Hope Wood Academy is 195 pupils, aged between 2 and 19 years old.

The SENCO has a critical role to play in ensuring that children with special educational needs and disabilities within Hope Wood Academy receive the support they need.

The SENCO at Hope Wood Academy is responsible for the following:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN
  • Co-ordinating provision for children with SEN.
  • Liaising with parents of children with SEN.
  • Liaising with other providers, outside agencies, educational psychologists and external agencies.
  • Ensuring that the school keeps the records of all pupils.
  • All admissions into the academy
  • Transition arrangements in and out of the academy .
