Student Voice

Within the academy we believe the voice of the young person is paramount to our academy journey.

In each tutor group, students vote for one or two representatives to attend the weekly student council meetings. These are held every Friday morning during lesson 1.

Students are involved in a variety of decisions about the academy and their experience here as students.

Historically student council have:

  • Designing the new academy planner
  • Developing ideas for a behaviour award system
  • Being involved in the recruitment of new members of staff
  • Planning the end of year prom
  • Organising fund raising events
  • Action research
  • Involvement in County Durham Investing in Children
  • Living Streets Walk to School initiative
  • Involvement in choosing the new academy name/logo/uniform
  • Links with other student voice groups within the Trust
  • Responded to County Durham Home to School Transport Survey

We will be continuing our work with Investors in Pupils to give our students a voice and we will be providing you with regular updates of our exciting journey.
