Student Voice

Within the academy we believe the voice of the young person is paramount to our academy journey.

Primary

Within our primary department students are involved in decision making processes which affect them.

They are able to give their views in a variety of ways including contribution to assembly, class circle time, student survey and through the annual review process.

Secondary

Students within our secondary department elect one or two representatives from each tutor group to attend the weekly student voice meetings.

Students are involved in a variety of decisions about the academy and their experience here as students.

In the Autumn term students from the student voice group spent a day away from the academy to develop the new student voice vision for the academy.

Other projects which have been driven forward this academic year have included:

  • Designing the new academy planner
  • Developing ideas for a behaviour award system
  • Being involved in the recruitment of new members of staff
  • Planning the end of year prom
  • Organising fund raising events
  • Action research
  • Involvement in County Durham Investing in Children
  • Living Streets Walk to School initiative
  • Involvement in choosing the new academy name/logo/uniform
  • Links with other student voice groups within the Trust
  • Responded to County Durham Home to School Transport Survey
