Our pupils with PMLD have access to a carefully planned, highly differentiated and well resourced curriculum which is assessed using ‘Foosteps’, a bespoke assessment tool. Pupils have access to the MOVE program, sensory environments and input from a multi disciplinary team. 

MOVE is an activity based program which uses the combined knowledge of education, therapy and family to teach children with physical disabilities and/or complex needs the skills of sitting, standing, walking and transferring.

Rochford Review

At HWA, we are working alongside Ascent Trust colleagues, to develop the new ‘7 aspects of engagement’, which will replace the old P scales nationally, in the 2018-19 academic year. This is a government-led initiative, to provide a more meaningful and practical tool to assess our PMLD pupils’ progress.

The Trust has been chosen to take part in the pilot, so parents will start to see references to the 7 aspects, within school reports and Tapestry entries.

They are: Responsiveness, Curiosity, Discovery, Anticipation, Persistence, Initiation and Investigation.
